Style talk with Miss. kapoor
Having already been called the queen of fashion, Sonam Kapoor talks about her fashion mantras, what love means to her, her love for acting and the experience of shooting with Salman.
From the Style files She said that One should wear the outfit; the outfit should not wear you. You’ve to enjoy dressing up. I’m inspired by Madhubala, Meena Kumari, Audrey Hepburn and Katharine Hepburn’s sense of dressing. Movies too have inspired me to wear beautiful clothes. And while acting, I don’t dress to be edgy but to be a specific character. There’s no one thing, but I do have a lot of bell sleeves and long maxis. When I’m feeling fat, I wear one of my maxis and I feel fine.
About Her acting Mantras She told to practice evrything. She went to Anupam uncle’s (Kher) acting school for Raanjhanaa. She also went to Delhi for three months to work on my role. She said that If you want to be a better actor, you have to train yourself, just like you need to do riyaaz to be a good singer.
Sonam said The true meaning of love is different from what is shown in films. In films everything is just so perfect, perfect hero, perfect heroine and perfect situation. But in real life nothing is perfect. She believe love changes people. She don’t believe that love vanishes after marriage. She said that It has been 28 years since my parents (Anil Kapoor and Sunita) have been married. Before that, they were dating for 11 years. They’ve been together for the past 39 years! Yet they love each other. They still remembers such small incidents. This is love.
She loved her work of every type like love for acting. She says She do love direction. Her first work in Bollywood was that of an assistant director for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Black. She never wanted to be an actor…She always wanted to be a writer or a director. After She started acting She says She found it amazing and fell in love with it. Now, acting has become her passion…and directing has flown out of the window.
However, even today, She would like to do anything related to film making…may be writing scripts, because by now, She have realized that She cannot manage people (that’s a must for a director).
