Protest at Gurduwara Baba Makhan Shah Lobhana New York

Protesters mainly children gathered outside Gurduwara Baba Makhan Shah Lobhana New York, USA, to register their protest against the Management. Issue came up in such a big way because management invited some kirtan group, which the protesters feel are not good for their sangat.

Protesters were seen carrying black flags outside the Gurudwara and police men were seen protecting them from the opposite group which favors management decision of calling the Jatha.

Baba Maan Singh was the person who was invited for kirtan program in the Gurdwara. Group told that they have already let the management know about their objections they have against the Baba , warned them of protest against Baba Maan Singh, if he is called for kirtan by the management.

On the other hand Gurudwara management told the media , that they are going as the orders and regulations of Shri Akal Takht Sahib. They further said, they will call all those kirtan groups in future also, which are permitted by the Akal Takhat Sahib.

Management people said, they have called Baba Maan Singh on the request of thousands of his followers who have learned gurbani from him.

Raghbir singh , president of Gurdwara Baba Makhan Shah Lobhana, told that this a protest by few children who don’t understand things because they are not grown up. He said he tried to pacify the kids, but they didn’t listened to him and went for the protest.

Sangat which was in favor of the Management also came face to face with the protesters and the situation was some how controlled by the police. This is not a new case of such confrontation. Earlier also many cases have surfaced where sikh sangat came face to face with their brother Sikhs on very small issues and some times aggravated to the extent people lost their lives too.

Sikhs should solve their internal problems amicably, instead of taking issues to public and showing bad face of their community to the non sikh people around the world.
