While addressing the CII national conference, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal said “I have a dream of a new and modern Delhi and I have come to invite you to join us in realizing this dream of a new Delhi”
He said that industry could help make Delhi one of the top five transparent cities in the world. Unique ideas for industry partnership would include the amendments in bus transportation within the city, setting up water recycling and recharging plants and cleaning up the river Yamuna, he said.
He clarified that 50 per cent of Delhi does not have sewer lines and 20 per cent of Delhi does not have water pipes. Industry can come up with suggestions to set up such plants that will help meet the water demands of the city.
Talking about the entire project to clean the Yamuna and also store water for use in dry season, Kejriwal asked the industry whether lakes can be made on the banks of the river to store water. To manage the growing pollution in the city, he asked if industry can bring up a blue print for solid waste management.
