Flying Badal family costs Punjab 112 crore : Poor Punjab

As per latest RTI filed with aviation department, Badal government has spent more than 112 crore of Indian rupees, on helicopter rides, which were mainly hired for Badal family only. Main helicopter riders include Sardar Parkash singh Badal chief minister of Punjab, his son deputy CM Sukhbir Badal, Harsimrat Kaur Badal wife of deputy CM, Bikram Majithia brother in law deputy CM and son in law of CM Adesh Partap singh kairon. Its more like a hefty family ride.

Punjab which was once number one state in agriculture with its farmers in the best state of life, is unfortunately facing large number of farmer suicides. Farmers under debit’s as small as few thousand rupees are committing suicide , where as ruling family is busy enjoying helicopter ride costing state a lot of money. State is already having debt amounting to more than 1 lac crore of rupees, and people are not being provided basic amenities because of money shortage and in this kind of state, Badal family spent 112 crore on helicopter rides is not at all acceptable.

RTI which disclosed everything was files by Daljeet Singh from Hoshiarpur , Punjab, who is full time RTI activist. Very basic questions were asked in this RTI, like how many helicopter are owned by the Punjab government, answer he got was one, but with the amount of money spent in leasing helicopters, it was possible to buy as many as 7-8 helicopter by the state itself. Helicopter were engaged as and when demand was raised by the government. As per RTI , more than 2 crores of rupees were spent on fuel only. Around 5 crore was spent on maintenance of helicopters.

This very clearly wastage of tax money paid by common man. We should think twice before voting as this shows insensitivity by ruling party towards common man and specially farmers who are committing suicides for small loans which they are not able to pay as ministers like Tota singh are involved in pesticides scam and still getting party ticket.
