Minister assures to talk to PM about the strike of Jewelers
On Sunday, both the Gujarat MP and the Union minister Mohan Kundariya in Ahmadabad, said that they will take up with Narendra Modi, The Prime Minister, about the excise duty issue that is raised by the striking jewelers as an effort to resolve their matter.
From the Rajkot, The Lok Sabha MP says that he will take along with other MPs from the Gujarat which is a major gems and jewelry hub, for a meeting with Narendra Modi. Kundariya had met the agitating jewelers in the Rajkot, which is around 200 km from here.
The jewelers across the Gujarat and in other parts of the country are on an indefinite strike from the last ten days so as to protest the proposed 1 per cent excise duty on the gold and diamond jewelry and also the mandatory PAN card clause for purchases of Rs 2 lakh and above worth jewelry.
After the meeting with the jewelers, He told the reporters that both BJP as well as the Center is & will try hard so as to resolve the issue as soon as possible.
He quoted the words as, being the MP of Rajkot; He met those jewelers today to know their exact problems. Jewelers across the India are agitating against the proposed excise duty. He have told them that both BJP as well Central government are trying their best to find an appropriate solution.
In the upcoming days, all the MPs from Gujarat will meet the PM and make a representation regarding this issue. The minister of state for agriculture, Kundariya said that they will see this issue is resolved.
Jewelers are demanding the rollback of this proposed excise duty that was made in Union Budget also the decision to make the mandatory the PAN card clause.
