Punjab Congress CM Candidate is Captain Amarinder Singh who is also state president of Congress party. Most of the congress leaders agree on his name, as he is the most powerful and right candidate for the upcoming elections due in 2017.

AAP which is coming up as a strong contender in Punjab, released their first list of AAP candidates who will fight as MLA from different constituencies. Now they are followed by Congress, which is planning their list of candidates very soon. According to the available information almost 1600 candidates have applied for the available 117 constituencies in the state. The selection process has been changed this time.

Sandeep Sandhu one of the congress leaders told that people for all parts of life are coming forward to represent their individual constituencies and fight on Congress party ticket. It included folk singers like Md. Sadiq, social workers, professors, doctors all eager to serve their people.

Earlier lists were out just 15 days before the elections, but this time it is expected earlier. Mr. Sandeep Sandhu told that it is upto Captain Amarinder singh to decide when to release list of candidates.

Another senior Congress leader Lal Singh, told that he is most fit person for the post of Chief Minister of Punjab. He further added that congress history is appointing congress president as CM of the state. He quoted example of Giani zail singh, S. Darbara singh followed by S. Beant singh and even Captain Amarinder singh earlier, all were congress president and then appointed chief minister of the state.

Lal singh said that congress party appoint its party state president after thoroughly going through all the candidates eligible for that post, as party project president as the chief ministerial candidate, who have command over the party leadership and later the whole state.

Everyone in the congress party is now cross fingered and waiting for the first list of candidates that will be out in September , October or November but well before the elections which is a positive and contemporary change in the party’s policy.
