Suspected police stations on Election Commission radar
Election Commission of India is taking no chances to ensure free and fair elections in the border state of Punjab. A special list of all the police stations which are sensitive this time or have some previous record is ready.
Election commission also prepared list of corrupt police officer who may effect the polling process under the influence of politicians.
Punjab elections are due in 2017 and are expected in February or March next year. Its almost three months left so election commission is all set to ensure fair elections. Elections commission will take strict action against paid news, any one who will try to go against law, any kind of drug, liquor for which all the police stations have been instructed.
Chief election commissioner of India Naseem Jaidi, is on three days visit to Punjab. Naseem Jaidi has strictly warned all those miscreants , who are planning to disrupt the process of elections, that very strict action will be taken against them.
Elections commission is expecting to have 80 percent polling in the Punjab, which is set target for the EC. To ensure everything goes smoothly all the polling stations will get CCTV camera’s installed. He said EC will insure instant action against any officer on election duty who will found not doing his or her duty properly.
Naseem told that election commission has created a database of police station with a bad record of not performing well during previous elections. He said all the police officers and police station which are under the influence of local police stations are under the radar of election commission and they keeping sharp eye on them.
7 September this year there were 1.92 crore voters, 6 lakh applications for adding new name to the list and on the same time 1.85 have asked for deleting their names from the list.
Election commission will ensure that all those whose name will be deleted from the list , should be informed well before the election. For those who are looking for new ID cards can still apply for the same.
Almost 600 campus ambassadors int the colleges and universities have been appointed to ensure the target of 80 percent voting in the state. These campus ambassadors will the student to participate in the elections process. Every body will know to whom they have casted vote via VVPAT .
Election Commission is trying its level best to ensure security and other necessary facilities in the polling stations.
For security apart from installing CCTV cameras, central forces will be deployed, listing of corrupt and suspected local police officers is already done, EC is making sure to seal border in a way to control drug smuggling. Proper arrangement for water, toilets , waiting room and ramps for wheel chairs are also being assured at the polling stations.
